Artemis Project

The action has been conceived for evaluating, comparing and optimizing modal or multi-modal transport mission across Europe. ARTEMIS will show how a better knowledge of the different modes in term of constraints, performances and costs and a clear understanding of logistic requirements will create better results in term of service, cost and environmental impact. The ICT engine is a web portal system capable of demonstrating how to rationalize, improve and optimize working methods and procedures in the freight transport chain.
The system will be capable of considering and evaluating the real logistic constraints, such as: availability of the transport services, routing times, schedule delivery plans, customer delivery and distribution requirements. It will weight the different possible alternatives in terms of performance, cost and environmental impact, and it will identify, if required, the optimal solution according to previously stated criteria and showing why the other alternatives are less competitive.

Mission

Hence, this approach performs the evaluation of transport mode, routing, cargo unit, loading unit and in general of all logistic factors. Advantages and disadvantages of alternatives will be shown in order to support shippers in optimizing multi-modal operations and public administrations in planning infrastructures and appropriate measures.

The ARTEMIS action will disseminate among the transport and logistic world an innovative perspective, enhancing knowledge in the freight logistics sector and fostering advanced methods and procedures. The goal will be achieved through a targeted marketing and training campaign and the cooperation between multi-modal stakeholders and public administrations of different EU Member States will be the main driver for the action.
